lizzy & chris, truly vintage. {vintage DIY wedding photography}

i see a lot of vintage in my work. and i mean a lot. don’t get me wrong, i set it up that way on purpose. but this wedding pretty much takes the cake on all things vintage. mostly because everything was actually vintage!  her dress was a true 1920s dress. her flowers daffodils, a truly vintage style bouquet! her jewelry, the decor, the cake topper, the gifts they gave and received. everything down to the very last detail.

the wedding itself took place in rural virginia on the family’s property- complete with barn and water and fields to boot! the groom’s quarters were even in an immaculately kept vintage airstream. lizzy and her family are truly old souls, and i felt quite at home with them. chris’s influence surfaced in the form of legos and robots, all of which was completely adorable. i felt like i spent the entire day running around trying to capture all the beauty and attention to detail that everyone contributed.

i also have to give a shout out to Lori Nansi of Le Mariée Makeup Artistry who did some amazing hair and makeup for lizzy!

just FYI, there are a lot of photos, y’all. so plan a couple minutes to be looking at this post. : )

Beautiful, Tahni. Love all the gorgeous pops of color.

julia. {new york city creative headshots}

in a city filled with artists and creatives, i’m asked almost daily if i do headshots. i was pretty uncomfortable with the whole idea because i didn’t feel like i even knew what it meant to take a good headshot. along comes my stunningly beautiful friend julia who offered to show me the ropes by modeling for me. honestly, it was hard to take a bad picture of this girl, but i enjoyed our adventure nonetheless. all that to say, i think i’m down with headshots! what i love most about photographing people is the pictorial representation of their essence.

julia herself is a woman going places in life. a writer, an actress,a producer, and a fashion maven- i really don’t deserve to be her friend. i am glad to be here photographer though. : )

i realize that not everyone would want head shots with the joyeuse photography bohemian/vintage flair. here are a few of the same shots with a bit more of a traditional headshot look. i can’t say i’m really into the harsh contrasts of what is presented out there, so i opted for a bit of a softer, more natural tone.

happy monday everyone! : )

dorothy and vanessa at new york city hall. {new york vintage inspired wedding photography}

i’ve become a big fan of intimate celebrations. the best part of dorothy and vanessa’s wedding day was that they made friends with the right people and ended up getting married in the supreme court building. it was absolutely beautiful in there! and so many of the people working inside gathered around to watch them tie the knot and cheered and clapped for them as soon as it became official. i would be lying to say i didn’t shed a few tears.:)

i can’t get over vanessa’s style! of course i love a good white dress, but something about bold bridal attire is really inspiring and beautiful.

happy wednesday!
