i arrived to saint louis about three hours ago after a most uncomfortable car ride. not only was it uncomfortable, but, of course- there was a flat tire. alhamdulilaay, i have been in senegal for six weeks already and feel comfortable here because i was just dropped off at my host home, with no word…

Welcome to St Louis, I hope you get to see the arch…oops, wrong country! Though you are sad to leave Dakar, revel in the fact that you are preparing for yet another incredible experience. The truth is that you have done more travel and seen more things than 99.99991% of the world’s population EVER will! Believe it or not there are many, many adults who have never been outside of Texas. I have fond memories of you not wanting to leave Sedona, AZ, or western NC, or Florida, or Chattanooga (YEA!), or New Orleans or Hawaii. You are a lover of places and people.
I feel that when you leave St Louis you will be adding an end cap to a fabulous life experience. The cool thing is that the Tahnmiester will make a difference in the life of your roomie and your host mom and, oh, EVERYONE.
This past weekend at church the sermon was about “heros”! Pastor talked about how we humans look at other humans and hold them up as heros. Most American’s heros are movie stars or sport’s stars and the like. The point was that Jesus is the only true hero even if we have other fallible replacements. I want you to know that two of my personal heros are you and Louanne. You ladies exemplify everything that is good in this world. Thank you for making a difference to so many. I love you very much!
Please say hello to the goats and sheep for me and I hope things are not too BAAAAAAD with them around. Enjoy the work you are about to do and remember that there are many who love you and are praying for you daily.
Lastly, remember Dakar with great fondness and I hope that you can find a way to record your thoughts and experiences into your journal.
I look forward to the next update and know that your dad loves you and he always will.
Love You, Dad
